Disappointing Experience with Trikor
Poor After-Sales Support
Both reviewers, David and Rob, expressed frustration with Trikor's after-sales support, citing difficulties in having problems addressed in a timely manner. They reported being ignored or dismissed, forcing them to repeatedly bring up issues before they were acknowledged.
Construction and Materials Issues
The reviewers identified numerous construction and materials issues with their homes built by Trikor. These include:
- Parging and Structural Issues: David mentioned that the parging on his front porch has been peeling off for nearly two years, and the front step has a massive crack that spans the entire length. Additionally, the structural cedar beams installed on his front porch were not included in the engineer-stamped blueprints, which had to be corrected by an engineer.
- Concrete and Roofing Issues: Rob pointed out uneven concrete finishing with pooling, poured concrete in direct contact with OSB sheathing, and insufficient nailing for roofing wind ratings. He also mentioned that the shingles never adhered properly and blow off constantly, and that there was no tar paper underlay on the roofing.
- Door and Siding Issues: Rob reported that the cheapest quality doors were specified, which freeze up terribly, and that the front door won't close unless slammed shut. He also mentioned large gaps opening up on the siding.
Mechanical and Electrical Issues
The reviewers also mentioned various mechanical and electrical issues, including:
- HVAC and HRV Issues: Both reviewers experienced problems with their heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. David mentioned that his HRV was not properly balanced, resulting in ducting freezing up, while Rob stated that the HRV was the lowest grade and would freeze into a block of ice in the winter.
- Electrical Issues: Rob reported that the electrical conduit was installed without expansion and joints, which are now pulling apart.
