Our Story

The company was founded by Tony Mertion in 1957, with a small blade caterpillar and a cable-operated excavator called the Quickway. In 1973, Ed Mertion took over the reins from his father and gradually grew the business, expanding its equipment and clientele. The company continued to thrive, and in 2009, Klayton Mertion took over the helm from his father Ed. Today, Mertion Excavating Ltd. maintains its main office and operations in Vernon, BC, while actively pursuing projects throughout the Okanagan Valley.
