Our History

Ed Penner, a journeyman carpenter with over 25 years of experience in the building industry, founded the company in 2004, specializing in custom homes and renovations. As the demand for commercial projects grew, Ed shifted his focus to commercial steel and wood frame buildings in 2011. In 2018, Ed diversified the business to include agricultural construction, purchasing a Zimmerman Arch Rib machine for the construction of potato storages.

Construction Services

Ed Penner Construction offers a range of construction services, including commercial and industrial construction using both pre-engineered steel framing and conventional steel. We have set up steel frame buildings across Southern Manitoba and into Saskatchewan using locally made products, such as U-Build, a division of Behlen Industries. Our portfolio includes projects like Winkler's VB Entertainment Center, Spenst Brothers Petro-Canada, and Mr. Mikes Steakhouse.

Agricultural Construction

Southern Manitoba's strong agricultural sector has presented an exciting opportunity for Ed Penner Construction to branch out into agricultural construction, providing arch rib potato sheds and equipment storage facilities. We have had the privilege of working with local farms, including Southern Potato, Kroeker Farms, Four Seasons Heartland Fresh Pack, Haskett Growers, Hespeler Farms, Schmidt Farms, Beaver Creek Farms, and JP Wiebe Farms.

Steel Frame and Wood Frame Construction

In addition to commercial steel frame construction, Ed Penner Construction also specializes in wood frame construction.
