Transforming spaces, nourishing lives

Welcome to Hatchet & Seed, a family-owned and operated business that specializes in designing and building food-producing landscapes in Victoria, BC. Since 2011, we have had the privilege of working with hundreds of clients, from homeowners to universities, city parks, and community gardens. Our mission is to transform under-utilized spaces into abundant food-producing landscapes, providing our clients with year-round access to fresh, nutrient-dense fruit and vegetables.

At Hatchet & Seed, we believe in creating organic landscapes that not only produce food but also look amazing. Our team provides complete and professional landscape design and build services, specializing in edible landscapes (or foodscapes) that combine the aesthetics of formal landscaping features with the functionality of a 'kitchen garden' and 'home orchard.' We create beautiful, productive landscapes that nourish the belly and the soul by integrating seating spaces, patios, trellises, arbors, fruit trees, ponds, vegetable boxes, water collection, and even chickens.

As a company, we are committed to creating a regenerative work environment for our staff by providing living wages, meaningful work, health & dental benefits for full-time staff, and access to unique organic fruit & vegetables. We are a team of dedicated professionals who specialize in creating organic landscapes that produce food year-round and look amazing!
