Landscape Design/Build

Our landscape design/build process is a collaborative and professional approach that ensures our clients receive a bespoke solution that meets their unique needs and budget. Our process begins with a site visit and initial consultation, where we assess your property and gather your wishes and expectations. This information is used to create a design brief, outlining general recommendations to move your project forward.

Our Process

1. Site Visit and Initial Consultation: We begin with a site meeting where we see your property and hear your wish list. Based on this meeting and the information received from our Design Brief Questionnaire, we produce a design brief outlining our general recommendations to move the project forward.

2. Conceptual Plan: We create a conceptual plan that incorporates the elements from our site assessment and your design brief into a general layout. We require a copy of your property survey, including locations of all underground services and in the case of new builds, your foundation plan. If you do not have either of these documents, we can arrange to have a surveyor provide this service for you.

3. Landscape Plan: Based on the mark-ups of the conceptual plan, we produce a landscape plan, complete with a plant list, product list, and any additional details required.

4. Landscape Design/Build Contract: Upon approval of the landscape plan, we generate a landscape design/build contract and firm up your schedule.

Lawns

A healthy lawn is essential for our environment, and we provide expert guidance on how to achieve a thriving lawn. We believe that turf grass is one of nature's most luxurious and least expensive groundwater filters and oxygen producers. At Highland Landscapes for Lifestyle, we offer numerous options for building a lawn, including sod and seeding. Our experienced team provides expert advice on preparing the soil, applying the right fertilizers, and maintaining the lawn to ensure it remains healthy and thriving.

Sod 101

For those who choose to sod, we offer expert guidance on how to properly install and care for your new lawn. We recommend incorporating a compost product into the top 6 of a healthy friable topsoil before laying the sod. Apply a good starter fertilizer with a broadcast spreader on top of the soil before laying your sod. Water your sod within 30 minutes of installation and continue watering for at least 10 days, depending on rainfall.

Hydroseeding 101

Hydroseeding is a time- and cost-efficient way to apply grass seed over a large area. Our hydroseeder can apply a load that will cover approximately 2200 square yards of area, making it an ideal solution for large projects. The 'slurry mix' contains the Canada # 1 seed mix choice, paper fiber mulch, a typical starter fertilizer, and water. Once germination occurs, it is essential to maintain the new grass, including regular watering and fertilization.
