For over 45 years, Janbar Electric Ltd. has been serving the Quinte region with a commitment to quality electrical services, exceptional customer service, and a personal touch. Our story began in 1974 when Jane and Bart Smits, a husband-and-wife team, founded the company. Their early focus was on providing reliable electrical services to farms, rural businesses, and homeowners in the area. As the company grew, so did their reputation for reliability, and soon they expanded their services to include industrial and commercial clients.
Our History
As the business continued to flourish, the Smits family brought in their children to continue the legacy. Mike Smits, Jane and Bart's son, joined the company after completing his electronics training at Radio College of Canada. Mike worked in the electronics field in Toronto before returning to Trenton to apprentice as an electrician with the family business. In 2004, Mike and his wife Tammy took over the operations of Janbar Electric Ltd., marking the beginning of a new era for the company.
