Our History
Art's Excavating has a rich history that dates back to the 1940s when Art Oster started working with his Uncle Alec Ott in the Medicine Hat Contracting Company. In 1966, Art ventured out on his own and founded Art's Excavating. The company has since undergone several transformations, with Art's son Richard taking over in 1982, followed by Warren Schneider in 2013, and eventually Brett and Haley Schneider in 2023. Throughout the years, our commitment to excellence has remained unwavering, and we continue to provide exceptional service to our clients.
Our Services
We offer a comprehensive range of services designed to meet the unique needs of our clients. Our excavation services include aggregate hauling, demolition, and snow removal. We possess a vast array of equipment, including graders, track hoes, rubber-tired hoes, mini-hoes, concrete breakers, loaders, packers, skid steers, and track skid steers, to name a few. Our team of experts is equipped to handle projects of varying complexities, from backyard jobs to slab on grade, footings, basements, and concrete breaking.
In addition to excavation, we provide demolition services, taking down old buildings and prepping sites for new construction. Our snow removal services ensure that parking lots remain clear and safe during the harsh winter months. We offer free estimates on all our jobs, and our team is always happy to provide guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.

Incidents on the Highway
Some reviewers have experienced unfortunate incidents on the highway due to the company's trucks. One reviewer's fiance's car was hit with loose gravel from an unsecured load on one of the company's trucks, causing damage. Another reviewer reported a faulty front left signal light on a white Kenworth gravel truck, which could pose a safety risk.
