James' journey towards architecture began with childhood explorations along the wild BC coast, building forts with driftwood and marveling at the craft of his architect father. This early connection to the natural world and his artistic spirit culminated in a degree from the University of Oregon and subsequent registration as an architect in British Columbia.

Throughout his career, James honed his skills at established firms, contributing to diverse projects including urban mixed-use developments, social housing, heritage renovations, care facilities, schools, and libraries. His passion for sustainable practices and his ability to seamlessly blend aesthetics with functionality have been recognized through various projects receiving awards and accolades.
